On December 3, 2025, the inauguration ceremony of Shenzhen Dapeng New District People's Hospital was successfully held.** As a major livelihood project in Shenzhen, Dapeng Hospital is not only the city's first municipal public general hospital featuring rehabilitation services but also the first municipal public hospital in Dapeng New District. The project was designed by the Benyuan Medical Architecture Design & Research Institute of Shenzhen General Institute of Architectural Design and Research, led by Academician Meng Jianmin, and is operated and managed by Shenzhen Second People's Hospital.
Located in Shenzhen Dapeng New District, the hospital has a total construction area of 417,000 square meters, with a building height of 79.75 meters, a maximum of 16 floors above ground, and 2 floors underground. Its construction primarily includes an inpatient building, a rehabilitation center, an outpatient and medical technology building, an administrative building, a dormitory building, a lecture hall, and a research building. The total planned bed capacity is 2,000, which will be gradually opened, with 600 beds in the first phase currently available.
Benefiting from its geographical environment nestled between mountains and the sea, Dapeng Hospital aims to create a poetic space integrated into the natural landscape—a medical setting that embodies the art of life and humanistic spirit.
Dapeng Hospital subverts people's preconceived impressions of traditional hospitals. Two circular towers, one tall and one low, float atop a podium base, forming a complete organism. The outer perimeter of the towers extends into continuous undulating horizontal balconies, rotating and shifting up and down like rolling waves. At the main entrance, a grand canopy extends freely outward with a cantilever of 25 meters, resembling a seashell just emerging from the sea, full of dynamic vitality.
In terms of organizational structure, the architects re-examined the functional logic of medical facilities based on site conditions, reintegrating the three-part structure of outpatient services, medical technology, and inpatient care. Further combined with site circulation, they constructed a healthy, efficient, and humanistic shared space and functional service system.
Shenzhen Dapeng New District People's Hospital leverages the unique natural environment along the coast, integrating the hospital with the terrain to create a mountain-sea realm that harmoniously coexists with nature. By exploring the cultural connotations of medical functions, it creates a unique healing experience.
